The Coronation of King Charles the 3rd and The Queen Consort
The Coronation of King Charles the 3rd and The Queen Consort will take place at 11am on Saturday the 6th of May 2023 at Westminster abbey.
Charles and Camilla will travel from Buckingham palace to the abbey in the diamond jubilee state coach in a procession which is known as The Kings Procession. The Household Cavalry's Sovereign's Escort will accompany the King's procession enroute to Westminster abbey via the mall and Whitehall.
After the coronation ceremony the King and Queen consort will return to Buckingham Palace in the Gold state coach. This coach has been used in every coronation since the 1830s.
This procession, known as the Coronation Procession, will be larger and include other members of the royal family. The Coronation procession, which will follow the reverse route, from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace, is set to be significantly larger. This procession will a include The Sovereign's Bodyguard and Royal Watermen, representatives from the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth as well as The British Army, Royal Navy And RAF.
On the return to Buckingham palace the newly crowned King and queen consort will make a balcony appearance joined by other members of the royal family.
Part of the coronation celebrations will include a special Coronation Concert. This will be held in Windsor castle on Sunday the 7th of May 2023.

On Sunday 7th May 2023, the Coronation Big Lunch will be celebrated nationwide, offering an opportunity for neighbours and communities to gather and enjoy food and festivities together. The crowning of a new monarch is a momentous occasion, and we are thrilled to be involved in the official celebrations.
We invite people from all around the UK, and even the world, to join in on the festivities by hosting their very own Coronation Big Lunch.
Members of the public will be invited to participate in The Big Help Out on Monday, May 8th, 2023.
The Big Help Out initiative aims to inspire individuals to take up volunteering and participate in ongoing efforts to assist their respective communities.
