King Charles the 3rd has been reigning monarch for over 3 months now. During this initial start the King has had a busy schedule.
The former Prince of Wales made his first visit to Wales as King on September the 16th. During his visit to the Welsh capital Cardiff, the King attended a Remembrance service at Llandaff Cathedral. They also visited Cardiff Castle meeting the first minister of Wales.
On October the 3rd King Charles and the Queen Consort went to Scotland to visit the nation’s newest city – Dunfermline.
Dunfermline was elevated to city status as part of the late Queens Platinum Jubilee awards. The King, dressed in a kilt, chatted to, and walked amongst the crowds who came to see him.
Wednesday the 9th of November saw the King and Queen Consort visiting the city of York. The Royals entered York via the traditional royal entrance – Micklegate, where they were greeted by the lord mayor, councillor David Carr.
During the visit to York the King unveiled a statue of his late mother Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, carved in stone on the West front or York Minster. The statue was designed by Richard Bossons.
Tuesday the 22nd of November marked the first state visit hosted by King Charles. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa began his 2-day tour and was welcomed at horse guards parade by King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla and William & Kate the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
Later in Buckingham Palace, the King spoke of the strong bond his late mother Queen Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela had held together. The last state visit to the UK was back in 2019 when former US president Donald Trump was hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth.
