Four days of celebrations, events and activities dedicated to the Queen and her 70years of dedicated service to the United Kingdom and the commonwealth countries.

A weekend of celebrations and events dedicated to HRH Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. Incorporating the May bank holiday with an additional national bank holiday, the extra-long weekend holiday starting Thursday the 2nd of June to Sunday the 5th of June will be four days of celebrations, events and activities dedicated to the Queen and her 70years of dedicated service to the United Kingdom and the commonwealth countries.

Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is the first British monarch in history to serve the country for 70 years.

Starting her reign on the 6th of February 1952 and still serving, the Queen passed the magnificent 70-year milestone in February earlier this year. The longest serving British monarch prior to Queen Elizabeth the 2nd was Queen Victoria who reigned for over 63 years. The longest serving male British monarch was King George the 3rd serving for 69 years.


What’s on during the platinum jubilee weekend?

With a vast array of events and celebrations planned to include venues like St Pauls cathedral, Epsom Downs Horse Racing track and Buckingham palace it would be hard to ignore the jubilee celebrations.

Starting on Thursday the 2nd of June – the Queens official birthday this year – the magnificent Trooping of the colour on Horse Guards parade at St James Park, London. The tradition which dates to the 1700’s is a splendid display by the household division and can include over 1200 soldiers and bandsmen as well as over 230 horses. This year it is the turn of the 1st Btn of the Irish Guards. after the display and a Royal Gun Salute the royals will return to the balcony of Buckingham Palace and will see the impressive RAF flypast.


Beacons Across the Nation

An old tradition in Britain of lighting Beacons across the nation and the commonwealth countries will also be part of the day’s events on the 2nd of June. This started in 1897 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Beacons will be lit across the countries at 9.40PM local time. To coincide with this Pipers and pie bands will play ‘Diu regnare’ across the UK and commonwealth. Buglers will also play a bugle call titled ‘majesty’ at this time.


Thanksgiving

Friday the 3rd of June Will see a thanksgiving service at St Pauls cathedral where the largest church bell in the UK will be rung.


Party at the Palace

On Saturday the 4th of June the Platinum Party at the Palace will take place. A celebration of music and entertainment at Buckingham Palace with famous artists including Sir David Attenborough, Queen + Adam Lambert, Emma Raducanu, Alicia Keys, David Beckham, Craig David, Stephen Fry, George Ezra, Dame Julie Andrews, The Royal Ballet, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Diana Ross and the legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

During the day of the 4th the Queen and other Royals will attend ‘Derby Day’ at Epsom.


Big Jubilee Lunch

Sunday the 5th of June sees the ‘Big Jubilee Lunch’. Communities and friends coming together for the biggest street party with over 10 million people anticipated to take part. Street parties not only across the UK but also across many commonwealth countries and more!

Also on the 5th at 2.30pm the Platinum Jubilee Pageant will take. A tribute to Her Majesty the Queen which will by led by the famous Gold State Carriage and Sovereigns Escort. The Queen will Not be travelling in the carriage however we are promised a surprise! Choirs and military bands as well as some intriguing technology will make for a splendid pageant.
