The Queen’s Accession exhibition displays items have been collected during her reign including the Coronet that the Queen wore to her parents coronation in 1937.
As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, an exciting display showing some magnificent pieces of the Queens personal collection will start today, Friday, 22nd July 2022 and be open for 10 weeks, closing on the 2nd of October 2022, at Buckingham palace.
The Queen’s Accession exhibition displays items have been collected during her reign and go back to items from when she was an 11-year-old child showing the Coronet that the Queen wore to her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, coronation in 1937 to modern day.
Some of the stunning items on display include the famous image taken 70 years ago which has been reproduced on millions of postage stamps and made the Tiara famous around the world. The coronet worn by the Queen in 1937 as well as the robe worn on the same occasion. The diamond tiara wedding present given to the then Princess Elizabeth by Queen Mary. Numerous breath-taking portraits of her majesty taken by Dorothy Wilding.
Various pieces of jewellery including a brooch given to the queen in 1944 on her 18th birthday by her father King George VI and the Dimond Diadem used for King George IV’s coronation in 1821.
The Queen’s Accession exhibition will be held in the state rooms at Buckingham palace which has opened its doors to visitors for the first time in 3 years.
All visitors to the State rooms will have access to the exhibition. The Exhibition is open every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
