We Are Farming Minds

In a heartwarming display of support for rural communities, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, visited a family-run farm in Herefordshire on January 15, 2026. As the patron of We Are Farming Minds, an organization dedicated to providing mental health resources for farmers, the prince aimed to shine a light on the challenges faced by those in the agricultural sector during what is often described as their 'lowest time of year.'

Pruning Apple Trees

The visit took place at a 190-acre farm owned by John and Laura Bowler, where Prince William rolled up his sleeves and got involved in daily farm tasks. He assisted with pruning apple trees in the orchard, jokingly referring to it as his 'lumberjack moment,'' and helped feed the sheep. Additionally, he participated in building new fencing along the property's border, showcasing his willingness to engage directly with the farming lifestyle.

Farming Pressures

During the visit, conversations focused on the pressures farmers endure, including economic uncertainties, weather challenges, and isolation. Prince William's presence was said to provide a much-needed boost, emphasizing the importance of mental health initiatives like We Are Farming Minds in supporting the backbone of Britain's rural economy.

This engagement underscores the royal family's ongoing commitment to agricultural and mental health issues, following in the footsteps of previous initiatives by the prince and other family members. The visit not only highlighted practical farm work but also fostered open discussions on wellbeing in the farming community.
